Mothers Day 2019

My Mama is the best. Seriously. She is kind and generous. She is loving and giving. And if you just ask my kids, she is one FUN Gigi.

She’s my shopping buddy and thanks to her nursing career, she’s the one who is on speed dial for all of my medical questions. She’s my best friend, and the one who taught me how to be a Mom. I hope I can be half of the Mom that she is. So, happy Mother’s Day, Mom. We love you more than you know!

Also today, I got to celebrate my 8th Mother’s Day as a Mom myself. What a special day. Here is a quick recap of Mother’s Day 2012-2019.

When we first took this year’s annual picture, both kids were standing in front of me. And then I made Kevin re-take the picture. I realized this is most likely the last year that I will be able to HOLD one of my kids for a picture, so I picked Karsten up. 🙂 Oh how I miss those tiny little babies, but how I love their big kid personalities too.

To some people, Mother’s day does not bring happiness. Because of our adoption journey, I’m especially aware of the pain of infertility that Mother’s Day can magnify. For you women, I pray for you and mourn with you. However, know that there is hope in the One who can heal all of our troubles. My family is proof that infertility does not mean we cannot be a parent. God’s plan of adoption for our family far exceeded what we could have imagined. What the world may have seen as brokenness, God used to bring joyfulness. Whether He brings physical healing to your situation, or brings you healing in a different kind of way, it’s my prayer that you too will experience the joy that only He can give.

Happy Mother’s Day.
