Karsten is Five!

Today, this crazy kid turned FIVE!

Five years ago today, we were praying hard for another sweet baby to be added to our family. We had no idea when that time would be, but knew that we were trusting in God’s plan for us and tried not to get too impatient with the waiting. At the time, October 6, 2014 was just another normal work day for us. Little did we know, this perfect girl was on her way. On October 7th we got the call that changed our lives. What an adventure it has been since then!

Karsten is usually a happy-go-lucky kid who loves to laugh. Without a doubt, her raspy chuckle will cause you to laugh too, which gets her going even more. She is a comedienne who loves knock knock jokes, magic tricks, and just like most other 5 year olds, bodily noises.

Playing kitty is one of her favorite things so when we went to a nearby Equestrian Center that had face painting, it was a no-brainer as to what she wanted to be painted up as.

She loves all things outdoors and would stay outside all day long if we let her.

She is an animal lover through-and through. Any time she is allowed to pick out a toy, you can guarantee that she will be choosing some kind of stuffed animal.

I call her my walking encyclopedia. She memorizes things like crazy. She’ll watch a video on PBS Kids or on StoryBots (on Netflix) and has it memorized word-for-word within minutes. I honestly can’t believe the monologues she will memorize. Last year in K3, she got asked to tell the K4 class what she knew about the human heart. Ha! Here’s the latest, where she is teaching me about bacteria. Science seems to be her thing.

And just like that, my girl is FIVE. What a crazy few years it has been, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. We are so thankful that God orchestrated her story and our story to come together. I can’t imagine her anywhere else but in our family. We love her so.

Happy birthday sweet girl! You are loved more than you know.
