One Tooth Down
About a month ago, Karsten walked into the kitchen telling me she had a loose tooth. I wiggled it, and didn’t think it was budging at all, so I told her I didn’t think it was loose yet. She insisted that it WAS loose, because Kate had just accidentally elbowed her in the mouth and knocked it loose. Ha!
Fast forward a couple of weeks, and it turns out she really DID have a loose tooth! She was so excited, but so protective of that tooth. She did not want to wiggle it and did not want any assistance with it at all. We kept an eye on it and the permanent tooth almost completely came in behind her baby tooth.
One weekend we went to visit my parents at the lake, and when we got home that night, I realized the baby tooth was VERY loose. I convinced Karsten to let me tie a piece of dental floss around it just to “see if the string would go all the way around”. That was my excuse anyway. As soon as I got the string tied, I barely tugged and the tooth popped right out. She was so shocked and excited at the same time!
And just like that, my littlest kid is one more step removed from being a little kid.
That night the Tooth Fairy paid our house a visit (of course) and she was sure to leave the tooth so Karsten could save it in this little box that was a gift from her birth mom on her first birthday. When we got that present, it seemed so far off to be able to use it, but here we are!
