First Day of School – Kate

Last Tuesday, Kate started THIRD grade. I hear that this is a hard school year. Is that true? I mean I remember third grade being a hard year for ME but that was ages ago. This is the first time I get to experience third grade on the mom side of things! 🙂

We are so thankful that Kate’s second grade teacher is looping up with her class so her entire class is staying together! It sure takes some of the anxiety out of the first day of school. And I especially love it because if this IS one of those really hard years, Kate’s teacher already knows her strengths and weaknesses! They won’t spend months having to learn each other because they’ve already spent 180 days together! I’m hoping this will help our third grade year go SO smoothly.

And just for fun, here are the first days of K4, K5, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. I think the only things that have stayed the same is that long brown hair, those pretty brown eyes, and of course, a big bow!

Here’s to a great THIRD grade year, and hoping it’s our best one yet!

  1. Third grade is a doozy! It’s all about getting the kids ready for the state testing! If they don’t pass in third grade, they have to repeat, or do summer school. It’s a lot of pressure on a 8 year old! And our experience was that they were forced to “grow up” and had a lot more responsibility. But Michael survived!

  2. What a beauty! My girl also started third grade. From what I remember with my son, third grade was the start of the hard years. More is expected and more is graded. At my kids’ school they start switching around in third grade, meaning they have a different teacher for English, Math and Science/Social Studies. I’m sure Kate will do great (hey, I rhymed there ha). Good luck Kate!
