Bringing Kallen Home

We wanted the girls to be the first of our family to meet Kallen, so as soon as we got home, we called Diane (my mother-in-law, who watches the kids each day) to let her know that we were back. Kate wanted us to replicate how it was when she met Karsten for the first time, so we put Kallen in his car seat and sat him in front of the fireplace in our living room.  Then, we told the girls they could come in. It was such a sweet moment.

Kate wanted to hold Kallen immediately. Karsten was a little more timid and was just content to touch Kallen’s feet or fingers. She went to get her bunny to put beside Kallen to make sure he knew he was loved and safe, because bunny makes her feel safe and secure.

Finally, after about an hour, Karsten warmed up enough to hold Kallen. Her grin says it all!

After a few minutes she said “He’s really warm. Wait! I’m all wet!” and we realized that Kallen had peed through his diaper alllllll over Karsten. What a memorable first time holding your brother!

And just like that, we became a family of five!
