Adoption Profile Book and Update

So apparently I have fallen off the blogging bandwagon.  I feel like I did a pretty good job for the past 3+ years and then all of a sudden, things have gotten so busy that blogging was the last thing on my mind. But I’m back, at least for today. 🙂

So here’s a little update (especially as it pertains to our 2nd adoption).  Really, there’s not much news, but for the sake of an update, here we go…

So let’s back up a little to the beginning.  We submitted paperwork to Bethany Christian Services in July 2013 to start the process on our 2nd adoption.  Yes, that is over a year ago.  Then for various reasons, which weren’t really our fault, it took a very long time to finish up our home study to be approved and waiting.  In February 2013, we were finally approved!  Well, it was my busy season at work (I’m a tax accountant) so I really didn’t have a whole lot of time to pull together a profile book.  In the end, I basically took the book that we used for Kate’s adoption and then just updated all of the pictures.  It was quick and easy, and I thought it would be good enough.

Fast forward about 6 months of waiting and I really felt like it was time to update our profile book.  Technically we didn’t have to update our book.  There was no requirement to update it from our agency, but I just felt like it was time.  We’d been waiting much longer than we had for Kate, though I realize that this really isn’t that long to wait. I wanted to do something a little different though.  Our initial book had a VERY long letter in the beginning, and then just lots of pictures in the pages following.  I wanted to split the letter up a bit over the course of the book, so it wasn’t too overwhelming at the beginning.  And, I just wanted something a bit different.  I finished updating the book this week, and they should arrive in a few weeks!

And now, we are still waiting.  Waiting on that exciting and important phone call to let us know that we will be parents again.  We’re excited for that day to come, but honestly, the last 6 months have flown by!  I really can’t believe we have already been waiting that long!  We KNOW it will be worth it.  Kate is proof of that!

I’m sharing our profile book below.  Though we are working through an agency, please feel free to share this with anyone that you know may be considering adoption.  Thanks!

  1. I will be updating our profile book next month after we have new family pictures made.
Happy waiting! =) (I hope neither of us have to wait much longer!)

  3. With all the things you’ve been through on your second adoption, your absence from your blog is understandable. Now comes the waiting game. It may take a long time, but that’s how adoption really works. It can really put one's patience to the test, but it's even more rewarding once done. And thanks for sharing your profile book, btw. It's very helpful. Cheers!
